Dr. G. Nammalvar

Nammalvar Ayya, a revered figure in Indian agriculture, revolutionized sustainable farming in Tamil Nadu. He transitioned from conventional agriculture to organic farming after witnessing the adverse effects of chemical inputs. As a pioneer of the organic farming movement, he educated farmers on eco-friendly practices promoting soil health, biodiversity and natural pest management. Ayya’s work extended beyond individual farms; he founded the Nammalvar Ecological Foundation for Farm Research and Global Food Security. Through his extensive outreach training programs and writings, he inspired a generation of farmers to adopt sustainable organic methods significantly impacting agricultural practices in India. We consider it our blessing that we were able to work with Nammalvar Ayya, document his teachings and later publish his works.
